InfoSec Fun and Growth: Our First 2024 Meetup Recap!

On January 18th, we had our first in-person meeting of the year, and boy, are we excited about what 2024 has in store for us! It was an amazing experience to bring together 50+ infosec professionals in one room without any vendors. Now, vendors, don’t worry – we do love you, and we tremendously enjoy the vendor-neutral presentations that your teams bring to our meetings occasionally. But this time, we wanted to give you all a break and let our conversations flow freely.

The result? A grounded and enjoyable conversation session that kept everyone engaged.

When we don’t have a designated speaker, and the conversation flows organically, involving the entire group, it’s a testament to the energy and enthusiasm in the room. We barely had time to consider any tabletop exercises because the discussions were so engaging. Eventually, we had to gently nudge people to head over to the refreshments part of the evening, a clear sign that everyone was having a blast.

This year, we’re thrilled to announce that our team has grown with the addition of several board members, committee members, and volunteers. With more numbers and talent on our side, we’re becoming stronger and more invigorated than ever before.

Our meeting this month was held at Nova Southeastern University – 3300 S University Dr · Fort Lauderdale, FL, in the Carl DeSantis building. Next month, we’ll be meeting at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth.

As for the rest of the year, we’ll continue our tradition of rotating locations to cater to Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach. Here’s a preview of our upcoming meeting locations (please stay tuned for final details through our email blasts, social media, and meetup group):

We can’t wait to see you at our next gathering! Stay tuned for updates and mark your calendars. See you next time.
