South Florida’s October 2016 meeting will be on Thursday, October 20th, 2016 at Florida Atlantic University. The meeting will take place in the Engineering East Building room 405 from 6PM to 9:30PM, followed by their usual networking hour.

We hear on the news of various security incidents and breaches at large companies. We wonder how this happened and no one caught it or limited the impact. But many companies don’t have a good incident response plan. And its not just the large companies that need this, but all companies with IT resources. For those in regulated industries, such as healthcare and finance, its required. What are the basics of incident response? What should a company be looking for? How can an plan be put together. In this presentation we will go over the basics of incident response, the 6 steps of response, the basics of planning and preparation, and what resources are available.

Our presenter is Michael Brown, our Chapter Vice-President. As a security consultant, he has working with a variety of clients in helping them improve their security posture, including working with them to improve their incident response planning.
