Get ready, Boca Raton! On September 21st, the South Florida Information Systems Security Association (SFISSA) is hosting its much-anticipated Hack the Flag and Chili Cookoff at the Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRIC). This all-day, FREE event is open to anyone interested in cybersecurity, whether you’re a seasoned pro or just curious about the field.
What’s Happening?
1. Hack the Flag Competition:
This is your chance to test your cybersecurity skills in a fun and challenging Capture the Flag (CTF) competition. From breaking into systems to solving puzzles, participants will face off in a variety of technical tasks that push the limits of their knowledge and creativity. It’s perfect for pros and newcomers alike—just bring your laptop and a willingness to dive in.
2. The Chili Cookoff:
Now, let’s talk about the chili! While the competition is fierce in the CTF, the chili cookoff brings a more relaxed vibe. Participants bring their best homemade chili (in whatever container they’ve got), and it’ll be served up in Styrofoam cups for everyone to enjoy. It’s simple, but it’s good fun. Who knows, you might even discover your new favorite recipe!
3. Speaker Presentations:
We’ve lined up several speakers who are thought leaders in the cybersecurity industry. Expect engaging presentations throughout the day, covering the latest trends and challenges in the field. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn from experts and expand your knowledge.
4. Robots on Display:
Check out some cool tech! There will be robots on display, giving you a glimpse into how robotics intersects with cybersecurity and beyond.
5. David Spark Live Audience Recording at 3:30 PM:
At 3:30 PM, join David Spark for a live recording of his popular cybersecurity podcast. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a live audience.
6. Networking and Learning:
Between hacking and chili tasting, there will be plenty of opportunities to network with some of the brightest minds in cybersecurity. Whether you’re looking to expand your professional network, get advice, or simply meet like-minded people, this event is a great place to start.
7. All-Day Fun:
The event runs all day, with activities that will keep you engaged and learning. Take part in workshops, check out demos, or just enjoy the casual atmosphere as you chat with fellow attendees.
